MDÜ - the most widely circulated journal for professional linguists
The BDÜ publishes its own professional journal, the MDÜ - Fachzeitschrift für Dolmetscher und Übersetzer. This journal is the most widely circulated professional journal for interpreters and translators in German-speaking countries (current circulation 7,000 copies).
The MDÜ publishes practically orientated reports on working tools such as translation memory systems, terminology management programs and dictionaries. Interviews and background reports on scientific findings and new legislation and other official regulations keep your professional knowledge right up to date. The articles are informative, soundly based and well-written, without being dry and overladen with technical jargon.
We enable experts in the professional linguistic field to use our journal to launch discussions on controversial topics such as invoicing procedures, the principle of using only mother-tongue speakers, or the issue of rights to one's own terminology. The entrepreneurial aspect of a translator's or interpreter's professional activities are an important subject addressed by the MDÜ: lawyers, tax advisers and advertising experts provide useful advice for self-employed professional linguists.
The MDÜ is published five times a year. A subscription costs € 69 plus postage. BDÜ members receive the journal free of charge as part of their membership.
If you are not a member, but you would like to read the MDÜ, then you can click here to order the current issue of the MDÜ, or you can order a trial subscription (3 issues of the MDÜ at the price of € 40) or an annual subscription (€ 69). Students can obtain an annual subscription to the MDÜ at a reduced rate of € 35.
Note: The journal is published in German. It occasionally features articles and book reviews written in another language, mainly English.
